Advice For Parents
For a successful stay
The esf Chamonix team has put together some general advice to help you make the most of your stay. If you have any specific questions, please don't hesitate to get in touch!
For Little Ones
- Make sure your child is properly equipped: ski trousers, a ski jacket or anorak, hat, mittens or gloves, sunglasses or goggles, sun cream, tissues, etc.
- For their ski equipment: ski boots, skis and helmet! Poles are only needed from the Flocon preparation level onwards.
- Make sure your child has their lift pass with them.
- For children over 5, remember to pop a small, easy-to-eat snack in their pocket.
- Please avoid following or calling out to your child during their lesson, as this may distract them and affect their progress.
- Please check that the telephone number, first name and surname on the E-card are correct.
- Leave it to our instructors to decide if your child needs to move up to a different level.
- Children who still wear nappies cannot attend lessons or the Kids' Club.
For Everyone
- Ski passes are not included in the lesson price. Please remember to purchase a lift pass or check whether one is included in your package.
- Equipment is not provided, so please make sure it is suitable for the student's height, weight and ability level.
- Helmets are strongly recommended and are compulsory for Team Rider.
- Please respect the lesson start and finish times. We ask that you arrive at least 5 minutes early.
- 5- and 6-day lessons run on consecutive days.
- esf Chamonix cannot be held responsible for weather conditions, ski lift breakdowns or other incidents beyond its control. If lessons are suspended for reasons beyond our control, no refund will be given.
- esf Chamonix accepts no liability for any injury or damage to personal property that may occur to students.
Please note: esf does not provide insurance for its students. We recommend checking your existing cover or taking our suitable ski insurance such as E-GLOO if necessary.
How to choose a ski pass
Ski Lifts
Important:You must have your ski pass with you in your pocket. Unless otherwise stated, ski passes are not included in the lesson price.
- A ski pass is required to take part in esf lessons from the Ourson level onwards at Les Planards.
- At the Savoy ski area, your instructor will let you know from which day your child will need to have a ski pass.
- Ski passes are free for children under 4 at Les Planards and under 5 at other ski areas, upon presentation of proof of age.
Take out insurance!
E-GLOO Insurance
Comprehensive cover with no upfront costs! This insurance covers the cost of your ski passes and lessons:
- If you are unable to ski
- If you need to cancel your stay
- But also your search and rescue costs,
- Hospital transport
- Repatriation to your home
- Emergency medical expenses

Professional Public Liability Insurance
esf Chamonix has professional public liability insurance that covers its clients for any damage they may cause to a third party while they are under the supervision of an instructor.
Please note: This insurance does not cover costs that clients of the esf Chamonix may have to pay themselves in the event of an accident, such as rescue costs, medical expenses, damage to or theft of skis, unused lift passes, or other related expenses.
We therefore recommend checking that you have adequate cover for these risks. If not, we strongly advise taking out suitable insurance so you can enjoy your ski holiday with peace of mind.

Kids' Club
A convenient way to extend your child's day on the slopes
As an optional add-on to ski lessons, the Kids' Club welcomes children enrolled in lessons for some downtime in a safe and welcoming environment. Available from age 3 (children must be toilet-trained), it can be booked for a half-day or a full day with lunch. Lunch is prepared by a caterer and reheated on site.
Supervised by our childcare staff, children are collected at the end of their lesson and can enjoy some quiet time indoors, with games available to play.
Please note: The Kids' Club is not an organised acitvity programme. It is a space where children can rest, play freely and recharge between their ski sessions.
Two Kids' Clubs are available, depending on where you are staying:
- Savoy, ideal for families staying in Chamonix or without a car.
- Les Planards, particularly convenient for beginner parents or families with a car, thanks to the on-site parking.
Plese note: For children aged 3-4, the full-day package with Kids' Club cannot be booked online.
Ski area - Valley or Higher Altitude
Please note: Lessons in the valley and at higher altitude are not the same: the duration, the required level and the ski pass needed are all different. Please make sure you select the ski area appropriate for your child's level when booking, so they can progress safely.
Valley Skiing
Beginner Level
- Valley Lessons are particularly well suited for beginners and children who are still learning as they take place in a more reassuring environment.
- For skiing parents, choosing Savoy means you can ski up to Brévent and continue your day at higher altitude.
Les Planards
The Savoy Area
Altitude Skiing
Intermediate and Advanced Levels
Lessons at higher altitude are more technical and are aimed at young skiers who are already confident on the slopes.
